Costume Symposium in Liverpool this weekend

The weekend is almost here and we are off to Liverpool for the second annual UK Costume Symposium at LIPA (the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts), presented in association with ScreenSkills High-end Television Skills Fund.

We would like to thank our generous supporters, including Gareth Neame, Jim Carter, Imelda Staunton and the Mackintosh Foundation, without whom the event would not be possible.

Friday 6 September is a day of talks, entertainment and discussion, with speakers including costume designer Tom Pye (Gentleman Jack) and Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey), followed by two days of practical workshops on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September.  Participants will be able to experiment hands-on with Corsetry, Embroidery Embellishment, Millinery, Pattern Cutting, Period Tailoring and Renaissance Knitting.

This year we have almost twice as many participants as in 2018, ranging from recent costume graduates to experienced makers who would like to extend their skills.

We will be posting photos and a video of the event on the website soon.
